Shasun Chemicals to setup API manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh
Shasun Chemicals is planning to set up an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility in Vijaz, Andhra Pradesh.
The initial investment would be around Rs 35 crore, which would be further scaled to Rs 100 crore over the next two-three years.
Yesterday, the company announced its foray into bioequivalence segment with the launch of its drug 'Streptokinase' injections, used in the cardio vascular segment.
Aurobindo Pharma secures nod from TGA for Amlodipine Besylate Tablets

One of the largest API manufacturers in Asia, Aurobindo Pharma has notified that Aurobindo Pharma Australia Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has secured approval from Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Government of Australia for the registration of Amlodipine Besylate Tablets 5mg and 10 mg.
Amlodipine Besylate Tablests falls under the Central Nervous System (CNS) therapeutic segment and is indicated for the first line treatment of hypertension and can be used as the sole agent to control blood pressure in the majority of patients.
This is Aurobindo's fourth approval from TGA, Australia.
Aurobindo Pharma Limited, headquartered at Hyderabad, India, manufactures generic pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The shares of the company closed at Rs 485 on BSE, up 2% compared to previous close of Rs 477.
Dr Reddy's signs pact with GSK

Dr Reddy's Laboratories, a leading Indian pharmaceutical company, has announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to develop and sell select products across emerging Africa, Middle East, Latin America and Asia Pacific markets, excluding India.
As per the agreement terms, GSK will gain access to Dr Reddy's portfolio and future pipeline of over 100 branded pharmaceuticals in the fast growing therapeutic segments such as cardiovascular, diabetes, oncology, gastroenterology and pain management.
The sources said that Dr Reddy's will manufacture the products, which will be licensed and supplied to GSK.
The sources further added that as per terms agreed by the companies, the revenues reported by GSK will be shared with Dr Reddy's Laboratories.
In certain markets products will be co-marketed by Dr Reddy's and GSK.
Stock of Dr Reddys Laboratories settled the day in green at Rs 712, up 1.04% on National Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded on NSE was 563,854.

BPCL Awarded by US Based Delphi Research Group

BPCL was presented the Best Practices Award by US based Delphi Research Group at their Integrated Enterprise Summit held in October 2002 at Washington DC. The selection was made from over 200 entries received across the globe. The other companies awarded in the same category are General Motors and United States Naval Research Laboratory.
"Delphi selected BPCL as a winner based on the case study submitted of our Refinery Intranet Portal—V.Support, developed in-house by the Refinery IS team, with the help of process owners and other groups.
The trophy mentions 'Best Practices Award is presented to BPCL for their effort in deploying a Global Refinery Portal to enhance the safety, efficiency, productivity, education, security and customer service of its operations,'" says M.D. Agrawal, Chief Manager IS (Refinery).
